Who we are

Southwestern Paint Panels (SWPP) was founded in 2006 to provide high-quality test panels for use in the paint and protective coatings industry.

After the original owners, Mike and Judy Wilkes, retired, the company was owned briefly by HFI Herin Family Investments.

Metaspec purchased SWPP in 2024 to continue the Wilkes' family legacy of manufacturing test panels.

SWPP manufactures test panels that are used to test paint and protective coatings. Most test panels are made from A36 steel and are blasted to a SSPC-5 cleanliness level. Test panels are used to evaluate the coating adhesion, surface quality and corrosion resistance. These test panels are highly uniform so that our customers obtain repeatable lab test results.
